Welcome to the new Site of Libertia Dogue de Bordeaux Ireland and U.K

Our first physical introduction to this wonderful breed many years ago was at a puppy training class. It was an instant “love at first sight”, and not too long afterwards we bought our 1st DDB and the foundation of our existing Dogues.

Libertia are a family run show kennels that moved back to Ireland over 9 years ago and through a passion of the breeds we have, became exhibitors, importers and exporters of quality dogs.

On moving to Ireland we found that like the U.K until recently, the Bordeaux was a relatively new breed and it was not recognised within the Kennel Club apart from Rare breeds Import register, but the Irish Kennel Club offered us the opportunity through its affiliation with the FCI to show, so we began our campaign to have the breed registered with the IKC, corresponding with many show secretaries for classes, we set up a breed health and enquiry line and from that we became the Founders of the DDBCI Dogue de Bordeaux Club Of Ireland.

Our hobby has taken us worldwide to various kennels, European and World Shows, we have made some wonderful friends along the way and more importantly have learnt and continue to learn information about the breeds we have here at Libertia.

Within this site we hope you will find some useful links for literature etc including the  World of Bordeaux books by Bas Bosch press publications, with over 250 pages including colour photos & articles from around the world & health issues etc, and the article by  Irelands correspondent, myself, 2 annuals in succession at the request of Bas Bosch.

On our news page we will post show results and information on our occasional puppy availability.
